Why do you feel pain on the right side of your chest? Chest pain in general can be caused by organs other than your heart. There are many important organs on the right side of your body. The lungs and liver are a vital part of your health. If anything is wrong with either organ you may feel pain on the right side of your chest. A part of the heart is also found on the right side of your body. Although the majority of the heart is on the left side of the chest your heart is still a concern when you have pain on the right side of your chest. If your pain is accompanied by fever, cough, or sputum production it may indicate that you have pneumonia on that particular side of your body. If bacteria or a virus settle into that side of your lungs, it can cause infection and inflammation. The infection can cause pain. If you continue to have a high fever immediately go to the hospital. A long running fever can be dangerous and should be treated as swiftly as possible. Pain on the left side of your chest is a serious matter and should be treated as such. Because there are so many causes of chest pain specifically on the right side of the chest, it is always best to visit your health care physician. They will be able to ask the right questions and run the proper tests. It is always best to visit a doctor when experiencing any severe pain because the sooner you can pin point the problem the sooner you can work toward treating it and in many cases curing the problem.
